Today's Shelf Pull: Beck, Odelay
Collage With Its Laces Untied
Today's Shelf Pull: Beck, Odelay. Read Eamon Lane’s story from Kilmorna in Listowel, with the people, records, art or town life behind it.
Some records arrive with a sleeve that explains the job before the needle gets involved.
Odelay arrives with a shaggy dog jumping a hurdle, looking as if it has just remembered an appointment and decided the shortest route is over the furniture.
Beck is on the shelf today, and the cover still does excellent work. Pale sky. Dry grass. A striped bar. One airborne mop of determination. Then the title lands in big red letters across the bottom, half command, half joke, as if the sleeve has winked at you and run off with your notebook.
Good. A Monday can use a record with legs.
