Today's Shelf Pull: Cypress Mine!, Pulling All The Clouds. Read Eamon’s note on the music, sleeve and the Kilmorna shelf in Listowel.

Some records arrive with a sleeve that wants to be admired.

Pulling All The Clouds Apart arrives with a Cork street, two figures in coats, a red car doing its best, and the sort of damp grey light that has clearly read the minutes from the last Irish winter meeting.

Cypress Mine! are on the shelf today, and the cover is already earning its keep before the record leaves the inner. Rows of old brick, a narrow road, chimneys above, wet ground below, the band name sitting plain at the top, and that title down at the bottom as if the weather itself has been given a small job and a modest wage.

Good. A sleeve should know where it is from.
