Lust For Life is Lana Del Rey opening the curtains without abandoning the shadows. The album keeps the widescreen sadness, slow-motion glamour and American mythmaking of her earlier work, but it lets more daylight into the frame. Love and the title track sound almost communal, while 13 Beaches, Cherry and White Mustang return to private ache. The guest list widens the record’s world, yet Lana’s voice remains the centre: cool, fatalistic, romantic and quietly funny when the mood allows it.

The album matters because it catches Lana Del Rey at the moment her persona became flexible enough to hold both isolation and connection. It links the noir-pop world of Born to Die and Ultraviolence to the more reflective writing that followed.
