United Abominations is Megadeth's 2007 album of geopolitical fury, released in the middle of the band's rebuilt 2000s run and shaped by a lineup that could deliver both modern weight and classic technical attack. The title announces the mood before the needle drops: this is Dave Mustaine looking outward at war, institutions, media language and global hypocrisy, then forcing those arguments through riffs. Sleepwalker begins with a threat that feels almost cinematic; Washington Is Next! turns political dread into one of the album's most direct charges; Never Walk Alone... A Call To Arms and the title track keep the rhetoric martial; Gears Of War links the record to contemporary gaming culture while staying inside Megadeth's militarized imagination. The remake A Tout Le Monde (Set Me Free), with Cristina Scabbia, reframes a familiar song for a new era. In 2007, the album made Megadeth sound less like a reunion project than an active combatant.

The album matters because it pushed Megadeth's 2000s comeback into a more explicitly political register. It showed that the band could still place technical metal inside current anxieties rather than only revisiting old concerns. The result is one of the defining records of that middle-period resurgence.

A useful collector piece for the post-2004 Megadeth shelf. It belongs between The System Has Failed and Endgame as the point where the rebuilt band aims outward with the most obvious political force. It is especially rewarding for listeners who like Mustaine at his most argumentative.

Modern Megadeth with tight thrash riffs, hard-edged production, martial pacing, political lyrics and melodic hooks cutting through the aggression.

Recommended for: Fans of Megadeth's political side; Collectors mapping the 2000s comeback sequence; Listeners who want modern thrash with clear choruses.
