Absolution XX Anniversary revisits Muse at the point where piano drama, end-of-the-world tension and enormous guitars all locked into one widescreen statement. The original album already felt theatrical, but this anniversary edition leans into the scale: Apocalypse Please, Time Is Running Out, Sing For Absolution, Stockholm Syndrome and Hysteria still arrive like warnings with choruses attached. The extra material makes the set feel more like a dossier on the era than a simple replay. Demo versions, live performances and stripped-back vocal or keyboard takes let you hear how the songs were built, how hard the band could push them on stage, and how much melody sits underneath the panic.

Absolution caught Muse turning anxiety into architecture, with stadium-sized rock, classical melodrama and a very 2000s sense that everything was about to collapse.
