Bad Witch is the 2018 Nine Inch Nails album that closes the trilogy begun with Not The Actual Events and continued through Add Violence, but it refuses to behave like a tidy conclusion. At just over half an hour, it is compact, volatile and unusually jazz-scarred for a Nine Inch Nails studio release. Shit Mirror and Ahead Of Ourselves carry the serrated industrial charge, but the record's deeper strangeness arrives when saxophone, negative space and fractured rhythm start pulling the machinery sideways. Play The Goddamned Part feels like a damaged instrumental transmission, God Break Down The Door channels Bowie-adjacent menace through Reznor's late-period unease, and Over And Out ends in looped dread rather than release. The album arrived in 2018, long after Nine Inch Nails had already become an institution, but it does not sound institutional. It sounds like Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross compressing noise, film-score instinct, industrial memory and nervous improvisational energy into a short record that keeps mutating while it burns.

Bad Witch matters because it proves late-period Nine Inch Nails could still make risk feel physical. Rather than stretching into a prestige-rock statement, the 2018 album uses brevity, saxophone, abrasive electronics and unstable song forms to keep the project sharp after decades of influence.

For collectors, Bad Witch is important as the full-length endpoint of the 2016-2018 Nine Inch Nails run. It belongs beside Not The Actual Events and Add Violence, but also beside the more experimental corners of the catalogue where Reznor's industrial language collides with atmosphere and abstraction.

Compact industrial rock with blown-out electronics, tense vocals, saxophone disruption, film-score darkness, abrasive grooves, damaged instrumental passages and late-night dread.

Recommended for: Nine Inch Nails fans following the Not The Actual Events trilogy arc; Collectors interested in late-period industrial rock experiments; Listeners who like abrasive electronic rock with jazz-shadowed unease.
