Room Service catches Roxette at a particularly bright intersection of pop songwriting and electronic colour. Released in 2001, the Swedish duo's seventh studio album places Per Gessle's compact hooks alongside Marie Fredriksson's expressive singing, moving from the rhythmic snap of Real Sugar and The Centre of the Heart to the gentler sweep of Milk and Toast and Honey. The twelve-song album is concise, but its contrasts make it feel larger: playful arrangements share space with songs built around longing and reassurance. The 25th Anniversary Edition opens that familiar programme into a two-record collection. Outtakes and demos offer a second perspective on the sessions, including Entering Your Heart, The Weight of the World and early versions of several album songs. Hearing the finished tracks before these alternate paths gives the set a natural arc, from carefully shaped pop performances to the choices and sketches behind them.

Room Service belongs to the final stretch of Roxette's original run of studio albums before a long interruption. Its combination of electronic detail, guitar-pop economy and emotionally direct vocals captures the duo adapting their established melodic strengths to the beginning of a new decade.

This black two-LP anniversary edition contains 24 tracks, pairing the original album with additional recordings and demos. The gatefold presentation includes an eight-page insert with photography by Jonas Åkerlund and images from Per Gessle's archive, making the package as much a look back at the sessions as a return to the album itself.

Bright melodic pop with crisp programmed textures, ringing guitars and expressive vocals; buoyant singles alternate with slower, warmly arranged ballads.
