Gorillaz' The Now Now is on the shelf today: a 2018 LP where electronic pop gets the windows open and still keeps one eye on the evening.

Some records arrive looking cheerful and then quietly admit they have been thinking about things.

The Now Now is one of those.

Gorillaz made this one after the busier traffic of Humanz, and you can hear the relief in it. The guest list is smaller. The rooms are clearer. The songs have space to move around without bumping into twelve different concepts on the way to the kettle.

That does not mean it is simple.
