Tutu is Miles Davis’s 1986 Warner Records debut and a defining meeting between his trumpet voice and Marcus Miller’s composition, production, bass and electronic arrangements. The title track, “Portia”, “Splatch” and “Full Nelson” place Davis inside a precisely constructed electric-jazz environment without diminishing the individuality of his phrasing. Issued as part of the Miles Davis centennial programme, this limited 2026 picture disc prints Irving Penn’s portrait onto the record itself and preserves the original eight-track album on one LP.
Tutu introduced Davis’s late-career Warner period and demonstrated how his sound could remain unmistakable within the programmed textures and studio language of the mid-1980s.
This limited 2026 single-LP picture disc features Irving Penn’s portrait and the original eight-track sequence. Barcode: 0603497804276.
